North Western Naval Command conducts 02 field health clinics
 
 

The North Western Naval Command conducted two field health clinics at the Roman Catholic Tamil mixed school in Kayakkuli and the Roman Catholic Church of the Lady of Our Assumption in Mullikulam on 25th and 26th October 2014. They were organized under the patronage of the Commander North Western Naval Area Rear Admiral Piyal de Silva.

The field health clinics were conducted as part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s community development and social responsibility project by the medical staff of the North Western Naval Command Hospital to uplift the living standards and medical facilities of the newly resettled civilian community in the remote villages in the North Western Naval Area. A mosquito eradication program was also conducted in accordance with the national program at the newly resettled villages in the Mullikulum and Karadakkuli areas on 22nd October 2014 as another event of the health improvement program in the area.

A large number of civilians from the Tamil and Muslim communities attended the clinics from the newly resettled rural villages in Kayakkuli, Marichchikaddi South, Mullikulum, Karadakkuli and Kondachchi in the Musali division of the Mannar district. The patients were treated for communicable, non-communicable, oral health, childhood diseases as well as old age and women health problems at the primary family health care level.

Medicines and nutritional supplements were sponsored by Triposha Lanka (Ltd), State Pharmaceutical Corporation, Hemas Pharmaceutical, Glaxo Lanka Ltd, Inter Pharma Ltd, Harcourt’s Pharmaceutical and Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals. All medical investigations were also conducted free of charge.
