Commander of the Navy visits Naval Dockyard

The Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera visited the Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee on 11th October 2014. He was warmly received by the Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Rohan Amarasinghe on arrival and accorded a Token Guard. The Navy Commander was accompanied by the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Shalika Perera, Director Generals and senior officers attached to the Naval Headquarters.

During his visit to the Naval Dockyard, the Commander of the Navy declared open the newly-constructed twin Junior Sailors’ Married Quarters named “Durantha Cresent 4 & 5”. In a symbolic welcoming gesture made to the naval families who will take up residence in the spacious accommodation facility, the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit presented gift parcels to two of the occupant families that were present. Thereafter, having proceeded to the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), the Commander of the Navy declared open the newly- constructed three-storeyed IT School, which comprises of a modern computer laboratory, a spacious office area and an examination hall.

On completion of his visit, the Commander of the Navy addressed the Heads of Departments in the Eastern Naval Command at the COMEAST Conference Hall. He commended the remarkable improvement in the infrastructure and the accommodation facilities made under the supervision of the Commander Eastern Naval Area. He also stressed the importance of enhancing professionalism and maintaining discipline at all times to safeguard the good image of the Navy.
