Commander of the Navy visits Welisara Naval Complex
 

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera visited the Welisara Naval Complex on 31st July 2014. Addressing the naval personnel during his visit, the Commander of the Navy stated that being the senior most serving naval officer, he wanted to stress the importance of becoming a maritime professional and the value of discipline for service personnel. To enhance their knowledge and skills, more training opportunities will be made available to all naval personnel to achieve professional excellence, he further stated. Good naval conduct is a must for a disciplined naval force. Therefore, all naval personnel must strive to lead exemplary lives, preserving the dignity and decorum of the Navy, said the Commander requesting all to uphold at all times the Navy's code of conduct and its values for others to emulate.

The Navy Commander visited the Naval Hospital Complex also and addressed the hospital management after looking into the medical services and facilities provided to the patients. He also inspected the Computer Laboratory, which is to be designated as the training center for computer courses organized by the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit for children of the naval personnel. He viewed the site of the proposed married quarters complex for senior and junior officers as well as sailors at SLNS Gemunu and visited SLNS Lanka to inspect the proposed site for the wardroom at the Volunteer Naval Force Headquarters.
