North Western Naval Command conducts Field Medical Clinics in Mannar

As part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s community welfare and social responsibility project, the North Western Naval Command conducted two field health clinics and donated spectacles with the assistance of the State Pharmaceutical Corporation at several rural villages in the Mannar district on 06, 21 and 23 March 2014. The events were organized under the patronage of Commander North Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Dayananda Nanayakkara.

The health development programmes were conducted by the staff of the North Western Naval Hospital to upgrade curative and preventive medical care of newly resettled multi-ethnic communities in Savierapurum, Mullikulum, Karadakkuli, Pandaraweli, Chilawthurai, Pookkulum, Musali and Kayakkuli. The State Pharmaceutical Corporation provided more than 114 spectacles for those with vision defects.

More than 339 patients benefited from the clinics which were conducted at the Grama Niladari Office in Savierapurum, Roman Catholic Tamil mixed school and Roman Catholic church of Our Lady of Assumption at Mullikulum. They were treated for communicable, non-communicable, oral, child, old age and women health diseases at primary family health care level. All investigations, medicines and nutritional supplements and other consumer products were provided to the patients free of charge.

Thriposha Lanka (Ltd), State Pharmaceutical Corporation, Glaxo Lanka, Inter Pharma Ltd, E-pharma Pharmaceuticals, Harcourt’s Pharmaceutical and Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals provided the medicines and nutritional supplements.
