Italian Navy’s ITS GIOVANNI DELLE BANDE NERE, which arrived in Colombo (21 May 26) on a replenishment visit, departed the island today (22 May) on completion of her intended purposes. The Sri Lanka Navy bade a customary farewell to the departing ship in compliance with naval traditions at the port of Colombo.

National War Heroes’ Day Commemoration held in dignified splendor under Hon. President’s patronage
The National War Heroes Commemoration Ceremony 2026 was held with dignity on 19 May 26, at the War Heroes Memorial in Battaramulla. The solemn event, organized by the Ranaviru Seva Authority, was graced by the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Hon. Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Navy renders assistance to bring ashore injured fisherman for urgent medical attention
The Sri Lanka Navy demonstrated its commitment to maritime safety and assisted to bring ashore an injured fisherman and rushed him for urgent medical attention on 08 May 26. The fisherman was aboard a local multiday fishing trawler off the south coast and the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo coordinated the retrieval of the fisherman.
