In a coordinated humanitarian assistance effort, Sri Lanka Navy medical personnel provided essential support to a multi-service health camp on 20 Dec 25. The camp was organized for people affected by Cyclone ‘Ditwah’ and currently residing at Kaleiwana Vidyalaya in the Doluwa Divisional Secretariat.

The Sri Lanka Navy marked a significant milestone in administrative efficiency with the opening of the new Navy Pay and Pension Office Complex on 17 Dec 25. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, inaugurated the facility in a ceremony held at the Welisara Naval Complex.

In response to severe weather impacts, the Sri Lanka Navy conducted a diving and technical assistance operation on 19 Dec 25 to clear major debris obstructing vital infrastructure.

The Sri Lanka Navy strengthened its rates with the attachment of 286 newly enlisted Recruits of the 264th intake, for training, on 17 and 18 Dec 25. The formal event was graced by the presence of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, at the Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake Auditorium, Naval Detachment Colombo.

Rear Admiral Sujeewa Weerasuriya, newly appointed as the Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, assumed duties of the appointment on 18 Dec 25 at the Volunteer Naval Force (VNF) Headquarters, Welisara.

The Sri Lanka Navy today (18 Dec 25) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Janaka Gunaseela, as he relinquished his duties to which he was committed over the past 35 years in the Sri Lanka Navy.

A new Hydrotherapy Pool, constructed to provide essential therapeutic care for dependent naval war veterans at ‘Anchorage’, Naval Care Center, was officially inaugurated on 17 Dec 25. The event was held under the patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda.

The Sri Lanka Navy has successfully concluded specialized diving and technical operations to clear vital infrastructure obstructed by severe flooding from Cyclone Ditwah, while continuing extensive Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations across the island.

The graduation ceremony of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Sapugaskanda Course No. 19 was held at Nelum Pokuna Theatre on 16 Dec 25. The event, honoured by the presence of Hon. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, the Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, as the Chief Guest, also saw the attendance of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda.

The Rules of the Road (ROR), Rigging, Semaphore and Flashing Competition, organized by the Naval Fleet Command, was held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium of Naval and Maritime Academy on 14 Dec 25. The event was graced by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, as the Chief Guest. The event was organized with a view to honing the professionalism of naval personnel serving in ships and craft of the Navy.
