A suspect held with Kerala cannabis in Mollipothana, Trincomalee

A coordinated search operation conducted by the Navy and Police on 01st June 2023 led to the apprehension of a suspect with over 01kg of Kerala cannabis in Mollipothana area in Trincomalee.

The coordinated search operation was conducted by SLNS Gokanna and SLNS Parakumba in the Eastern Naval Command with the assistance of Police – Trincomalee in Mollipothana on 01st June. During the operation, a person was searched on suspicion and subsequently he was arrested for carrying about 01kg and 90g of Kerala cannabis for sale.

The gross street value of seized Kerala cannabis is believed to be around RS. 627,000. The arrested person is a resident of Thambalagamuwa, aged 53. Meanwhile, the suspect along with Kerala cannabis was handed over to the Thambalagamuwa Police for onward legal action.
