Three persons apprehended with Kerala cannabis and heroin by coordinated operations of SL Navy and Police
Three (03) persons with Kerala cannabis and heroin were apprehend during two search operations carried out by Navy in coordination with SL Police, at Mullikulam area and at Karamba area in Puttalam, on 2nd April 2020.
Even under the disastrous situation in the country, SL Navy is contributing in the national effort of wiping out the drug menace from the island and has conducted many anti drug operations to prevent drug smuggling activities across the seas and over the land. Accordingly, during a search operation conducted by a team of naval personnel attached to the Northwestern Naval Command in coordination with Silawathura Police, a suspicious motor bike had been searched and found 1.9g of Kerala cannabis possessed by the two riders on the bike. Meanwhile, during another operation carried out with Norochcholai Police, about 250mg of heroin was recovered in possession of a person who was riding a suspicious three wheeler. In connection with these two incidents, three suspects, Kerala cannabis and heroin possessed by them, a motorbike and a three wheeler were taken into custody.
The apprehended suspects are residents of Marichchakatti and Palavi areas, aged between 28 and 46. Further investigation on three suspects, Kerala cannabis and heroin possessed by them, motorbike and three wheeler, are being conducted by Silawathura and Norochcholai Police stations.
