Navy assists apprehension of suspect with crystal methamphetamine

The Navy apprehended a person with crystal methamphetamine (ice), during a coordinated search conducted with the Pesalai Police at Periyakasal in Pesalai, Mannar on 31^st March 2020.

While assisting the control of the prevailing COVID -19 outbreak in the island, the Navy is continuing its operations for the defence of the country. Accordingly, a group of naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command together with the Pesalai Police conducted a search operation and detected a suspected person at Periyakasal in Pesalai, Mannar on 31^st March 2020. During further search, 810mg of crystal methamphetamine (ice) had been found in his possession. Subsequently, the suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect was identified as a 40-year-old resident of the same area. The Pesalai Police is conducting further investigation into the incident.
