Navy apprehends a suspect with drugs

A suspect who possessed some drugs was apprehended during a foot patrol carried out at Eththalai area in Puttalam by Navy, today (26^th March 2020).

SL Navy who are assisting the national effort of eliminating the drug menace from the island, has conducted many drug preventive operation in the seas as well as on land. Accordingly, Naval personnel attached to Northwestern Naval Command, while on a foot patrol at Eththalai area in Puttalam, searched a motor bike which was travelling there and recovered more than 5g (5g 170mg) of ICE drug and about 40g of another drug mixed with Kerala cannabis (Mawa) secretly possessed by the rider. The suspect, recovered drugs and motor bike were taken into naval custody.

The suspects is 34 years old resident of the same area. Apprehended suspect, amount of drugs and motor bike were handed over to Norochcholai Police for further investigation.
