Person nabbed with heroin during Navy-Police combined operation

During a joint operation conducted by Sri Lanka Navy and Trincomalee Police Narcotic Bureau in Trincomalee, a person with heroin was apprehended on 15^th March 2020.

Sri Lanka Navy, which is currently engaged in the national task of combating drugs, has carried out a number of successful operations to prevent the smuggling of drugs both at sea and on land. During a similar operation, naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command with officials of Trincomalee Police Narcotic Bureau, had detected a suspicious person and found about 660mg of heroin in his possession. The apprehension was made while the suspect was getting ready to sell this amount of heroin.

The accused has been identified as a resident of the same area, aged 41. Meanwhile, the suspect along with heroin was handed over to the Trincomalee Police for further investigation.
