Navy assists apprehension of suspect with Kerala cannabis

The Navy apprehended a person with about 2kg and 500g of Kerala cannabis, during a coordinated search conducted with the Police in Kilinochchi on 01^st February 2020.

During a coordinated search conducted with the Police STF of Kilinochchi, the Navy has intercepted a person riding a motorbike at Araviyalnagar in Kilinochchi and found about 2kg and 500g of Kerala cannabis in the possession of the rider. The Navy has been conducting regular anti-drug operations across the island to wage its war on drug smuggling and was able to make this apprehension as an extension of those efforts. The apprehended person has been identified as a 30 year old resident of Dharmapuram in Kilinochchi.

The accused along with the stock of Kerala cannabis was handed over to Kilinochchi Police for onward investigation.
