Navy assists apprehension of drug smuggler in Thoppur

The Navy apprehended a drug smuggler with 36g of heroin, during a coordinated search conducted with the Police in Thoppur on 17^th January 2020.

In view of warding off the drug menace in the country, the Navy has been conducting many anti-drug operations and has apprehended and produced a number of drug smugglers for legal action. During a similar operation conducted with the Muthur Police, the Navy intercepted a suspicious three-wheeler in Thoppur area and found 36g of heroin concealed in it. Accordingly, the person who was driving the three-wheeler was also taken into custody.

The suspect has been identified as a resident of Thoppur, aged 39. The suspect along with heroin and three-wheeler was handed over to the Muthur Police for onward investigation.
