Navy assists apprehension of person with heroin

Navy apprehended a person in possession with heroin during a coordinated search conducted with police at Erakkandi aria on 13^th January 2020.

During an anti-drug operation conducted in coordination with the Police Special Task Force, the Navy has intercepted a suspicious three-wheeler in the general area of Erakkandi and found 20g and 600mg of heroin in the possession of a persons in aforesaid three-wheeler. Further investigation revealed that the suspect who is a 45-year-old resident of Nilaweli, is a drug peddler in the area.

The suspect along with the three-wheeler and heroin was handed over to the Kuchchaweli Police for onward investigation. Meanwhile, the Navy has been conducting frequent operations across the country in support of creating a drug-free society.
