Navy assists to apprehend person with heroin

SL Navy in coordination with Police apprehended a person with about 5g of heroin at Kinniya area in Trincomalee, on 7^th January 2020.

A drug prevention operation was carried out by Navy in coordination with Kinniya Police at Kinniya area in Trincomalee. Accordingly, a suspicious person who was walking along the road was searched during the operation and recovered 5g of heroin in his possession. The suspect was apprehended and he was identified as a resident of the same area aged 38.

Further investigation on the apprehended suspect and the amount of heroin are conducted by Kinniya Police.
