Another Naval raid in the mission of eradicating the drug menace from the country

SL Navy apprehended a drug trafficker during a patrol carried out in the Back Bay sea area, on 04rd January 2020.

Navy conducts constant patrols in order to prevent illegal drug trafficking activities in Sri Lanka and has assisted to grab large number of drug dealers in the island. Such drug dealer was nabbed in Back Bay area in Trincomalee. This drug trafficker who disguised as a fisherman was onboard a craft in Back Bay area and a Naval craft on patrol has searched this suspicious person and questioned. By the inquiry this person was identified as a drug trafficker in Trincomalee area and he was apprehended by the Navy.

The suspect is a resident of Trincomalee area, aged 21. He was handed over to the Headquarters Police in Trincomalee for further investigation.

Meanwhile, under the able guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, the Navy has been conducting counterdrug operations in the country and off shore in a bit to put a stop to the drug menace that scourges the society.
